Ulbrich of Illinois installs stainless coil slitting and automatic pack line

Strip service center Ulbrich of Illinois, Alsip, Ill., has added a Braner/Loopco Hi-Performance Turret Head slitting and packaging line for processing surface-critical stainless coil in gauges from 0.020 to 0.187 in.

The slitting line features a Precision Quick-Change Turret Head slitter with threadless CloverNut tooling lock-up, a recoiler drum that can change from 16- to 20-in.-ID coils in five minutes, PVC film laminating, paper interleaving, discrete heavy-gauge and thin-gauge operating modes, an exit car that presents slit coils to the packaging line, and automatic coil threading.

The Automatic Slit Coil Pack Line can handle coils up to 10,000 lbs. and includes automatic slit coil downending and stacking.
