SMP installs polisher/grinder

Specialty Metals Processing Inc. (SMP), a toll processor of nonferrous metal in Stow, Ohio, has installed a custom-built, 72-in.-wide wet sheet/plate polisher and precision grinder.

The machine features CNCs, special lighting, and a 240-in.-long vacuum chuck table. It can polish or precision-grind from 0.020- to 6-in. material and give a premium polish finish to stainless, aluminum, titanium, and special alloys. On precision grinding, it can hold tolerances of &#plusmn;0.002 in.
