DOT Quality Services, a Chicago-based registrar specializing in U.S. certifications and codes, has announced that it now offers three new ANSI-accredited certifications.
The first is for welding firms compliant to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel. This program can enhance welding processes and image for companies involved in the fabrication of structures with steel members 0.125 in. thick or greater.
The second is for welding firms compliant to AASHTO/AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code. This program is suitable for firms involved in the fabrication of steel bridges. Requirements of this code are often found in large government contracts for the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and for other steel structures in the transportation industry on water and land.
The third certification is for structural steel fabricators. The Infrastructure Certification Program is appropriate for metals fabricators and manufacturers of bridges; dams and locks; marine docks and maritime and coastal structures; transmission towers; wind towers; ancillary highway structures; oil and gas structures; and power plant structures.
The company’s auditors are AWS certified welding inspectors and ASQ certified quality auditors with many years of experience in ensuring compliance with the AWS D1.1 and D1.5 welding codes.
