Arc welding robot delivers extra-long reach

The new Motoman® MA3120 arc welding robot features an extra-long reach arm that reduces the need for tracks. Available in floor-, wall-, and ceiling-mounted configurations and suitable for multiple robot layouts, the robot has twice the payload of the previous MA3100 model.

The robot has a 13.2-lb. payload, 10.24-ft. horizontal reach, and ±0.006-in. repeatability. It features integrated, through-the-arm cabling and increased through-hole wrist diameter for integration of pull torches and welding sensors.

The robot uses the manufacturer’s DX200 controller, which features patented multiple-robot control technology to handle multiple tasks and control up to eight robots, I/O devices, and communication protocols. Its I/O suite includes integral PLC and HMI pendant displays, high-speed Ethernet communication, 4,096 I/O addresses, and a graphical ladder editor that can provide system-level control.
