Primetals Technologies supplies robots to voestalpine Stahl for converter steel works

Primetals Technologies, London, has received an order for three robot systems from voestalpine Stahl GmbH, an Austrian steel producer. The robots will manipulate the probes in the three LD (BOF) converters in the Linz steel works. The robots will take over work in hazardous areas that previously was performed manually.

The robot systems are equipped with a measuring probe magazine designed as an exchangeable container. They also handle tasks such as cleaning the contact bar, monitoring the probe holder, and performing correcting movements.
