COR-MET has been manufacturing flux cored wire and electrodes since 1972, specializing in high deposition alloys for the repair of Forging Dies and Large Foundry Castings. The Flood Welding Procedure will deposit up to 60 lbs per hour of weld metal. The consumable alloys available for Flood Welding include: low carbon steel, multiple NiCrMo alloys, Chrome hot work alloys, and high Nickel base alloys.
The product forms available for Flood Welding are Flux Cored Wire (3/32", 1/8", and 5/32"diameter) and Stick Electrodes (sizes up to 20mm diameter X 39" in length).
Flood Weld Procedure Is as Follows:
Preparation:Remove worn or cracked material from the area to be welded. This may be done by carbon arc scarfing, oxygen acetylene torch, or machining.
Preheat:Preheat according to base metal and weld metal chemistry. The most common preheat and interpass temperature is 800F.
Welding:Weld with appropriate COR-MET Stick Electrode or Flux Cored Wire. Contact COR-MET for the proper alloy, Flood Welding equipment selection, and training.
Peening:Peen the weld area to reduce shrinkage stresses and crater cracking. Peening will refine the microstructure and is most beneficial while the weld bead is still in the dull red condition.
Postheat and Cooling:Postheat to equalize the temperature. Slow cool to room temperature.
Temper:Temper to desired hardness.
