Welding end prep tool suitable for cutting high-chrome-content boiler tubes, stainless steel, and tubes with overlay

Esco Tool offers the Mongoose MILLHOG® right-angle-drive, ID-clamping welding end prep tool. It features a 1.25-HP motor with a reduction drive gear that produces 240 lbs. of torque at 100 RPM. Suitable for cutting high-chrome-content boiler tubes, stainless steel, and tubes with overlays, it requires nine sets of clamps for tubes from 0.750 ID to 3 in. OD. The self-centering mandrel has a patented push-pull release design.

The tool uses TiN-coated cutter blades machined from T-15 tool steel. They mount into the rigid EscoLock™ blade lock system to provide chatter-free operation. The blades feature a chip breaker that directs the chip away from the tube and minimizes heat generation.
