Backing tape for pipeline joints permits arc welding up to 240 amps

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Ltd. has published a four-page leaflet about weld backing tape for pipes and pipelines. Weld backing tape is used to allow pipeline welding from one side only, producing a smooth, flat, slag-free weld on the back side, the company reports.
The literature shows three grades of backing tape that permit arc welding up to 240 amps. Backing tape for welding eliminates the need for backing bars and the time required to position them.
