Cleaning kit helps extend laser optics life

The LRO CO2 laser optics cleaning kit is available from Laser Research Optics. It includes 24 surgical-grade cotton balls, 24 cotton swabs, 24 surgical-grade finger cots, 24 lens mats, distilled water, polishing compound, reagent-grade isopropyl alcohol, reagent-grade acetone, and an air bulb for dust removal.

The kit offers step-by-step instructions for proper lens cleaning, which the manufacturer says will improve the transmission of CO2 laser optics and help prolong their life, especially those exposed to spatter in harsh industrial environments.
