Flux-cored wire designed for hot, fill, cap pass welding on up to X70 grade pipe

Flux-cored wire designed for hot, fill, cap pass welding on up to X70 grade pipe - TheFabricator.com

For fully automated pipe welding applications, Lincoln Electric has introduced Pipeliner® 81M, a gas-shielded, flux-cored (FCAW-G) wire designed for hot, fill, and cap pass welding on up to X70 grade pipe.

The wire is suitable for automated pipe welding applications that require consistent arc length. Fast-freezing slag provides a flat bead shape with consistent puddle support all the way around the pipe, the company reports.

The wire, which provides high impact toughness, can produce weld deposits with Charpy V-notch impact toughness exceeding 20 ft.-lbs. at -40 degrees F. It is available in 0.045-in. dia. on 10- and 25-lb. plastic spools packaged in vacuum-sealed ProTech® foil bags to protect against moisture.
