Laser cutting system employs automatic setup

Mazak Optonics offers the Optiplex laser cutting system for high-variation job shops. It employs the company's AO|5 automated setup functions, designed to help overcome the typical challenges of using varied workpiece material. Optimal cutting conditions can be retained during extended, unattended operation.
The system's PreView 2 control has a 15-in. touchscreen and graphical user interface that displays the cutting path and determines automatically the process conditions, including the required lens, nozzle, feed rate, and laser output for different materials and thicknesses. The 4,000-W, type 10 resonator processes thin steel to 1-in. mild steel.
