High-current-density plasma cutting system pierces, production cuts steel up to 2-in. thick

Kaliburn says its Spirit400a is the industry's first 400-amp, high-current-density plasma cutting system. The system, which produces 80 kW, is rated 400 amps at 200 V, 100 percent duty cycle. It pierces and production-cuts steel up to 2 in. thick; processes 1-in.-thick steel up to 85 IPM; and provides square, nearly dross-free edges with a ≤ 2-degree bevel.

The system features the company's Hafnium Optimizing Technology (HfOT™), designed to extend electrode life and help improve cut quality and consistency; full integration with the company's patented Inova torch height control system, which sets all vertical height and arc voltage parameters to help simplify operation and maximize versatility and torch consumable life; and an automatic gas console (AGC) that automatically sets process parameters, displays the required torch parts and part numbers, and monitors the parts' usable life.
