Prima North America Inc., the North American subsidiary of Prima Industrie S.P.A., has introduced the Convergent Lasers CL-R pulsed Nd:YAG laser.
According to the company, the laser is designed to be an in-place replacement for the JK704 lasers used by its customers. Users of earlier-model Laserdyne 780, 890, and 790 systems will be offered a turnkey retrofit package, including complete on-site installation and star-tup assistance.
The CL-R laser combines up to 50 kW of peak power with low-divergence resonator optics to produce a high-intensity laser spot for drilling holes up to 3 in. long, drilling 10, 0.12-in.-long holes per second on-the-fly, and cutting at 12 IPM or to 0.8 in. deep.
A long depth of focus enables deep holes to be drilled with reduced taper. Pulse-shaping techniques can be used to improve the geometric quality of holes drilled by single laser shots on-the-fly.
When retrofitted, the machine is compatible with existing beam-delivery hardware and existing software programs and will operate with existing chillers.
