CNA, FMA launch Breakfast Series educational session for manufacturers

On Sept. 9 Chicago-based commercial insurance writer CNA and the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Intl. (FMA), Rockford, Ill., collaborated to host the inaugural CNA Breakfast Series at the Mazak Optonics facility in Elgin, Ill. During the program manufacturers learned how to increase efficiency in their plants by having a better understanding of the effect that the economy, ergonomics, and operational excellence have on their bottom line.

The program included discussions on how understanding motion in the workplace can lead to increased profitability, how current economic conditions are affecting the metal fabrication industry and manufacturing as a whole, and how manufacturers can improve business value by incorporating operational excellence.

The program concluded with a plant tour of Chicago manufacturer A.J. Antunes & Co. Company representatives explained how the firm has used lessons it has learned to become more efficient.
