Sapa Extrusions installs extrusion presses at Midwest plants

Sapa Extrusions-North America has announced the installation of new extrusion presses at its Yankton, S.D., and Elkhart, Ind., plants. The new presses have been moved from other Sapa locations and should begin extruding aluminum before the end of 2015.

To meet capacity requirements, the Yankton plant is receiving a 2,500-ton, 8-in. direct extrusion press for serving the building and construction industries. The Elkhart plant is receiving a 3,000-ton, 8-in. direct extrusion press for automotive applications, as well as an 8-in. log furnace with billet saw and line support equipment. Both plants also are adding shipping docks and new aging furnaces.
