Shimco breaks ground at new Ontario headquarters

Shimco, a manufacturer of precision parts and gap-management systems, has begun construction of a 25,000-sq.-ft. headquarters in Cambridge, Ont. Its current headquarters will relocate from Markham, Ont., to Cambridge in December.

The manufacturing facility will incorporate increased automation, new manufacturing capabilities, and lean manufacturing principles. The company plans to collaborate with local educational institutions, equipment manufacturers, and customers to commercialize leading-edge manufacturing and processing technologies.

During the relocation period, parallel manufacturing is planned for the current manufacturing site in Markham and the new Cambridge location to ensure no interruption in deliveries to customers.

An additional 15,000-sq.-ft. expansion, planned for 2016, will incorporate surface treatment and testing.
