Software upgrade facilitates secondary forming operations, analysis

AutoForm-DieDesigner version 4.0 software allows die engineers and toolmakers to create the tool design and die faces for secondary forming operations quickly and to analyze the complete sheet metal forming process, including springback, the company says.

The software allows process planners and designers to create a 3-D die layout of all the stamping operations, including restrike and flanging. Modifications to intermediate operations and final part geometries are simple to make and automatically and instantly updated.

The software can run tryout simulations of the 3-D die layouts automatically that result in a 4-D process layout that reflects the time sequence of the forming process.

Die faces can be reimported in the CAD system through direct interfaces or exported via STL interfaces for direct use in CAM systems and for milling of prototype tools.
