Stainless tube mill accommodates laser welding, GTAW

Seuthe, an Asmag Group company, has introduced a tube mill for stainless steel tube production. It accommodates both laser welding and GTAW.
The line comprises a decoiler, strip end shear and welding machinery, edge scarfing, entry table, forming section, welding table, bead lamination, bead grinding, sizing, eddy current and straightening using traditional Turk’s-heads, chipless cutting unit, and roller conveyor with sorting table.
The forming and intermediate stands are designed so the roller set prevents overextension of the strip edges. All the forming and sizing stands are operated by a single drive per shaft to prevent any difference between the relative velocity of the strip and the forming flower. Slit tubes are formed gently and evenly to prevent damage to the strip surface, says the company.
The welding table is designed so that a variety of stainless steel products can be manufactured on a single line in rapid sequence. The separately encased welding area helps ensure an inert gas atmosphere. The welding rolls are arranged to provide consistent stabilization of the melting line.
The edge scarfing unit directs the strip with a very high number of the lead rolls vertically and horizontally with simultaneous low-vibration effect while counterbalancing bandwidth oscillations.
