A defect of the outside edge of metal on a coil. It happens during the rolling of metal onto the coil. The rolling process causes a deformation of the steel; if the slitter knives are not aligned perfectly, the slitting process will produce a slightly broken or torn edging of the metal.

Scholarship fund to honor Dick Kallage - by Tim Heston FMA’s Nuts, Bolts, & Thingamajigs foundation has set up a memorial scholarship fund in honor of Dick Kallage, an influential member of FMA and columnist for The FABRICATOR magazine. Kallage died of cancer Feb. 18.
