fin blade

  1. A centrally located ridge on the upper roll tools of the fin pass section of a tube mill designed to extend into the gap between the edges of the strip. This ridge may be part of the upper roll tool or more generally a separate piece of tool steel. The purpose of the fin blade is to set the size of the opening and angle of the edges of the strip in preparation for welding.
