The processing area in a steel mill where hot-rolled and cooled steel is immersed in dilute acid to remove iron oxide and scale from the steel's surface. The strip is then side-trimmed to tight tolerances, and finally oil is applied as a rust preventive and to provide lubrication for any subsequent rolling.

Scholarship fund to honor Dick Kallage - by Tim Heston FMA’s Nuts, Bolts, & Thingamajigs foundation has set up a memorial scholarship fund in honor of Dick Kallage, an influential member of FMA and columnist for The FABRICATOR magazine. Kallage died of cancer Feb. 18.
