profilometer

Definition
- An instrument for measuring the topographical profile of a surface. The profilometer produces a 2-D trace of the sheet surface. The trace (or profile) greatly exaggerates the sheet's height by 1,000 times or more as opposed to the sheet's length, which might be 10 times greater.
