AddisonMckee to supply SIO end forming machine to Eastern Catalytic
- December 11, 2012
- News Release
- Tube and Pipe Fabrication
AddisonMckee, Lebanon, Ohio, has been commissioned to build an SIO end forming machine for Eastern Catalytic, a manufacturer of catalytic converters, manifold converters, and converter components for the aftermarket and OEMs.
The machine will feature Hydra Green technology, which employs hydraulic power without the noise, heat, and energy usage associated with traditional hydraulic power units. The hydraulic pump is in operation only where there is a demand for pressure and flow. With its reduced duty cycle, the hydraulic pump uses 50 percent less electricity compared to a traditional hydraulic circuit, the company states. The small hydraulic reservoir uses 65 percent less oil.
A sizing machine operates with internal fingers inside the tube, expanding it past the elastic limit, and external fingers outside the tube to reduce the diameter to the required size. The SIO concept involves no less than six sets of tools in one machine, so there is no need to change the finger tooling to accommodate a variety of expansion/reduction requirements for different tube diameters.
