AK Steel has named David C. Horn and John F. Kaloski senior vice presidents. Horn is the corporation's general counsel and secretary, and Kaloski oversees the safety, operations, quality assurance, engineering, purchasing, and supply chain management functions.
Horn joined the company in 2000 as assistant general counsel and was elected vice president and general counsel in 2001. In 2003 he was named corporate secretary. Before joining the company, Horn was a partner in the law firm of Frost Brown Todd LLC (formerly Frost & Jacobs) and was a member of the firm's executive committee. He is a trustee for the Volunteer Lawyers for the Poor Foundation and was named in 2005 an Ohio Super Lawyer, one of only eight in-house attorneys so designated as a result of peer surveys. He has a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Law, from which he graduated Order of the Coif.
Kaloski joined the company in 2002 as director, operations technology. He has more than 30 years of steel industry experience. He was named vice president, operations in 2003 and assumed the additional responsibilities for quality assurance purchasing, engineering, and supply chain management in 2004. Before joining the company, Kaloski was senior vice president, commercial and planning for the former National Steel Corp. Before National Steel, he held management positions for U.S. Steel Corp. In 1996 he was named "Plant Manager of the Year" by the former New Steelmagazine for his leadership at U.S. Steel's Mon Valley Works in Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration degree from Robert Morris College.
