ESAB enters agreement with MegaStir to develop friction stir welding systems

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products, Florence, S.C., has signed an agreement with MegaStir® that gives ESAB exclusive worldwide license to manufacture and distribute friction stir welding machines using MegaStir's technology for ferrous and nonferrous alloys, metal matrix composites, and superalloys. ESAB says the agreement also gives it worldwide distribution rights (except in certain countries) to distribute MegaStir branded tools.

ESAB manufactures welding and cutting equipment and welding filler metals. MegaStir is a strategic alliance between SII Megadiamond Inc., a business unit of Smith Intl. Inc., North Provo, Utah, and Advanced Metal Products Inc., West Bountiful, Utah.
