Amada opens Shanghai facility

Amada Co. Ltd., Kanagawa, Japan, has opened a facility in Shanghai, China, which will serve as the hub for its China busisness. In addition to administrative buildings, the facility houses a technical center (to open in July), a school for technical training, and a parts center.

With a staff of 269 people, the plant can produce 120 laser, bending, and other types of machines each month. The facility uses the same production method used at the company's core Fujinomiya Works, as well as Amada's original production management system (AM-HITs), which allows production status to be assessed at a glance. The production chain, from order receipt through shipping, is visualized, creating a production environment in which products can be manufactured to the same degree of quality as in Japan, the company reports.
