Ametek Specialty Metal Products upgrades rolling capabilities
Ametek Specialty Metal Products (SMP), a manufacturer of metallurgical materials, has upgraded the rolling capabilities at its Eighty Four, Pa., plant.
Improvements include a new, energy-efficient clad metal rolling mill with an increased-horsepower main rolling mill motor and advanced controls; upgraded prebond surface preparation equipment; and advanced robotic clad material processing capabilities.
The plant produces ALCOR™ 7-Ply stainless steel clad aluminum for use by the luxury cookware and consumer appliance cooktop market. The material combines the durability and appearance of T-304 stainless steel with the magnetic characteristics of ferritic steel. It is formed using a proprietary roll bonding and thermal treatment process.
The material is available in more than 60 blank diameters from 8.75 to 23.75 in.
