More manufacturers announce open house schedules for Manufacturing Day

Several manufacturers have announced their participation in Manufacturing Day, a nationwide event on Oct. 5, 2012, to highlight the importance of manufacturing to the nation’s economy and draw attention to the many rewarding, high-skill jobs available in manufacturing fields.

The event sponsors — Rockford, Ill.-based Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Intl. (FMA), the U.S. Commerce Department's Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), Wisconsin MEP (WMEP); and Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center (IMEC). MEP is part of the Commerce Department'’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) — have invited additional associations and organizations supporting the manufacturing industry to hold open houses, public tours, career workshops, and other events on Oct. 5 to introduce as many people as possible to the important role of manufacturing.

Open houses include:

  • Anchor Danly, Ithaca, N.Y.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Bellaire, Mich.; Beaver Dam, Wis.; and Los Angeles. The open houses are available to area students, members of the community, and current and potential customers. The company manufactures die sets, components and fabrications for the aerospace, appliance, automation, automotive, construction, defense, electronics, farm implement, furniture, machine tool, medical, mining, power generation, and shipbuilding industries.
  • BEGNEAUD Mfg., 306 E. Amedee, Scott, La. The open house will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is open to the Lafayette-area community. The company manufactures precision sheet metal components for a variety of industries, including agriculture, aviation, aerospace, automotive, advertising, architecture, art, communications, food processing, hospitality, marine, and medical.
  • GH Metal Solutions Inc., 2890 Airport Road N.W., Fort Payne, Ala. The open house will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is open to Fort Payne and surrounding communities. Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the company's metal fabrication capabilities, including laser cutting, forming, stamping, welding, and painting.
  • Superior Joining Technologies Inc., 11047 Raleigh Court, Machesney Park, Ill. The open house will run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for the surrounding northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin communities. The company specializes in GTAW, micro-TIG and micro-laser welding, laser part marking, multiaxis laser cutting and welding, and fluorescent dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection.
