Coldwater Machine appoints Solid State Joining Center director

Coldwater Machine Co., a builder and integrator of equipment for industrial component manufacturing in Coldwater, Ohio, has appointed Robert Rich as director of its Solid State Joining Center, dedicated to the development of technologies such as friction welding to address the challenges of joining lightweight and dissimilar materials. Rich is responsible for overall operations of the facility, including new-business development, market expansion, staff development, and quality control.

He previously served as vice president and GM of Schuler Inc. for seven years. Before that he opened the Detroit metro offices of General Bearing Corp., serving as director of automotive applications, and worked as sales and application engineering director for Stanadyne Corp. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Aquinas College.
