Keyhole TIG Ltd. (K-TIG), Adelaide, South Australia, has won the Innovator Award at the DTC Defence Industry Awards. Organized annually by the Defence Teaming Centre, the awards recognize the contribution of leading companies within the defense community.

The Innovator Award, sponsored by the Australia government’s Department of Industry & Science, recognizes a company that has invested heavily in R&D to produce innovative products that have contributed to building the capability of the defense industry in South Australia.

K-TIG has developed an ultrahigh-speed, full-penetration welding technology that welds up to 100 times faster than conventional welding in materials up to 16 mm thick, in one pass. The technology eliminates the need for wire, edge preparation, and skilled operators while requiring just 1/20 of the gas and power needed by other welding processes, the company states.
