Worcester passes away at 62

Dick Worcester, 62, longtime president of S.W. Anderson Co., died Jan. 21 of cancer at his home in suburban Chicago.

Worcester joined the company in 1978 as an outside salesman. He soon was promoted to vice president and eventually president. Under his leadership, the company grew from two locations to five. He also led the company's efforts to achieve its ISO 9001 certification.

Worcester pursued many interests outside of the fastener world, including his volunteer work at the local homeless shelter, PADS, where he took the overnight shift at least once a month until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters; a son-in-law; three granddaughters; a sister; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial donations may be made to DuPage PADS, 705 W. Liberty Drive, Wheaton, IL 60187, or online at dupagepads.org. Messages to the family may be sent to S.W. Anderson Co., 2425 Wisconsin Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515.
