Milltek Sport installs Unison bending machine

Car exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport, Derbyshire, U.K., has installed a new Breeze tube bending machine from Unison, Scarborough, U.K. The machine is Milltek Sport's first all-electric tube bender and provides the company with the ability to bend to tighter radii than its existing hydraulically actuated equipment.

Control of the bending motion is servomotor-based. It bends with almost no noise and no fluid spills or mess, the manufacturer reports. Programmable control over the pressure dies and forces employed during the bending cycle allow the company to handle all kinds of exotic alloys and materials, such as titanium.

The machine can bend tube diameters up to 3.15 in. with a single-stack tool head.
