Bellingham Technical College receives $455,000 software grant from Autodesk

March 12, 2012

Bellingham Technical College (BTC), Bellingham, Wash., has been awarded a $455,000 grant for engineering design software from Autodesk Inc. The donation is for 35 seats of AutoCADĀ® Plant Design Suite Ultimate software. The software allows BTC engineering students to learn the types of skills required by industry piping and structural designers.

Bellingham-based engineering company Anvil Corp. was instrumental in helping BTC secure the grant. Joel Harris, Anvil Corp.'s piping technology specialist and a BTC adjunct instructor, initiated the software grant request. Harris has taught the BTC process pipe drafting curriculum for the past two years and recently developed new curriculum under contract with Autodesk for the Plant 3D product.
