Airgas acquires two welding supply companies
Airgas, Radnor, Pa., has acquired the assets and operations of Vancouver Welding Supply Inc. (VWS), based in Vancouver, Wash., and Cumberland Welding & Supply Co. Inc. in Cumberland, Md.
Airgas Nor Pac, also based in Vancouver, has taken over the industrial gas and welding supply business at three VWS stores located in Vancouver, Longview, Wash., and The Dalles, Ore., which were doing business as Vancouver Welding Supply, Bi-State Welding Supply, and Mid-Columbia Welders Supply. Not included in the transaction is VWS's Carbonic Systems Inc., which remains under the sellers' management. Airgas is moving the Vancouver Welding cylinder-filling operations to nearby Airgas fill plants, and the Vancouver retail store is remaining open and operating as an Airgas store. The Dalles and Longview stores also are operating as Airgas.
The one Cumberland Welding location now is part of Airgas Mid America. Lenny Twigg, Cumberland Welding founder's grandson, has been appointed as the branch's manager.
