Diebold to sell Sumter, S.C., manufacturing facility

Diebold Inc. has reached an agreement to sell its Sumter, S.C.-based manufacturing plant to Porter's Fabrications, a current supplier to Diebold. Porter's Fabrications specializes in metal fabrication services ranging from light sheet metal to heavy metal elements and is based in Bessemer City, N.C. Porter's will continue to supply fabricated metal components to Diebold, partly through this facility.

Diebold's Sumter facility began operation in 1990. Its primary function is the fabrication of steel chests housed inside automated teller machines (ATMs). The Sumter facility also produces sheet metal components for ATMs as well as the company's safe deposit box product line.
