Updated serviceability design guide includes all steel building types

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has released its second edition of Design Guide 3: Serviceability Design Considerations for Steel Buildings. While the first edition focused on the design of low-rise buildings, the new edition addresses serviceability concerns with all steel structures.

According to AISC staff engineer Chris Hewitt, "The guide also includes expanded coverage of topics, such as floor levelness and drift criteria, as well as updated coverage of design considerations for skylights, cladding, and special equipment, such as elevators and cranes."
