RIA honors Delmia Corp. executive

Delmia Corp., a Dassault Systèmes company in Auburn Hills, Mich., has announced that company executive Robert G. Brown has received the Robotics Industry Association's (RIA) Joseph F. Engelberger Leadership Award for his leadership and innovative contributions to the robotics and manufacturing industries.

Established in 1977, the award is named after the founding force behind industrial robotics. Brown accepted the award at the International Symposium on Robotics held in Paris March 24.

Brown's career highlights include serving as vice president and general manager of ASEA Robotics, president of ABB Robotics, and president of Deneb Robotics (now Delmia). His contributions to the robotics field include initiating robot use in flexible assembly lines in U.S. engine plants, introducing large-scale deployment of robotics in automotive wheel manufacturers, and significantly increasing robot use in automotive general assembly.

Brown is a member of RIA and of the Intelligent Manufacturing Technologies Initiative board of directors. He frequently is invited to sit on industry panels and government proposal review committees.
