FABTECH to feature three fully-functional stamping lines

Three fully-functional, state-of-the-art stamping lines will be featured in action at the booths of AIDA, SEYI, and Stamtec in the METALFORM Technology Area of the 2010 FABTECH show in Atlanta, Nov. 2 - 4.

The AIDA line (booth 1509) will display a 110-ton gap-frame servo press along with a Coe SpaceMaster compact coil line that unwinds, straightens and feeds. Bachman Machine Co., of St. Louis, Mo., will provide tooling for the line while Wintriss Controls of Acton, Mass., will add a SmartPac 2 press automation control. Attendees interested in quick-die-change technology can observe a magnetic quick-die clamping system supplied by Italy-based Tecnomagnete, while Pax Products, Celina, Ohio, will provide the die-lubrication setup and conveying systems. Material for the line will be supplied by United Aluminum of North Haven, Conn.

At the SEYI booth (#1604), visitors can view a 16-station progressive die with ball-bearing insertion from Great Lakes Metal Stamping, Bridgman, Mich. The die will run on a low-deflection single-point straightside press also outfitted with a Wintriss SmartPac 2 press control and a Coe feed line. Attendees can check out the latest in die protection, as the die will be equipped with six sensors to monitor, among other actions, feed up, part ejection and ball-bearing presence. Remote press-line production monitoring also will be demonstrated.

Stamtec, Manchester, Tenn., will feature a stamping press/transfer system production line in booth 1633. The line will be anchored by a Stamtec OCP-110 single-point gap frame press (121-ton) equipped with a Linear Transfer Automation W-Class transfer system. Stamtec utilizes the Link Systems OmniLink 5100-MPC press control, accessed through a powerful, easy-to-use color touchscreen. A display of Forwell Quick Die Change Systems also will be exhibited, as well as Stamtec Feedlines by China-based Tomac.

Co-sponsored by the American Welding Society (AWS), Fabricators & Manufacturers Association Int’l (FMA), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), and Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI), FABTECH is the largest tradeshow in North America dedicated to showcasing a full spectrum of metal forming, fabricating, welding, stamping, tube and pipe, and finishing equipment and technology.
