Lissmac acquires Steelmaster line
- August 9, 2012

- Finishing
Lissmac Maschinenbau GmbH, Bad Wurzach, Germany, has announced the acquisition of the metal finishing segment of Homag Group in Beckum, Germany, which includes the Steelmaster line of metal finishing and deburring machines.
The machines add a wet grinding process to the company's current offering of steel brushing, deburring, edge rounding, and deslagging machines, all of which work in dry operation. Both types of machines can process parts made of steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, and aluminum.
Wet grinding reduces heat buildup in parts during processing to reduce deformation of heat-sensitive parts. It delivers a defined surface grain on a variety of metal sheet and plates. Smooth, glossy, or matte finishes can be produced, as well as structured surfaces with patterned polishes.
In addition to preserving the 17 jobs in the production area of the Beckum plant, the company says it will create more employment opportunities at the facility. Plans include the establishment of a service center that will cover the northern Germany area, as well as the adjacent Benelux countries.
A showroom at the plant will present the Steelmaster line and the company's other equipment, including construction machinery. Customers can bring sample parts to run through the machines.
Lissmac Corp., the U.S. subsidiary of the German company, will be coordinating all service and spare parts inquiries for the U.S. from its headquarters in Waterford, N.Y., which also houses a showroom of machines available for sample parts processing.
