The coil and building products group of PPG Industries, a coatings and specialty materials company in Pittsburgh, has received three 2014 Chairman’s Awards from the Metal Construction Association (MCA), Chicago.

The North Scottsdale Park and Ride was selected in the metal roofing category. PPG supplied DURANAR® VARI-COOL® infrared-reflective metal roof coatings for the structure, located near the Scottsdale, Ariz., airport.

The addition to and renovation of Chaffin Junior High School in Fort Smith, Ark., featuring the company’s Hartford Green DURANAR coatings, was selected in the education–primary and secondary category.

The company also supplied coatings to the new Arts and Science building at Valparaiso University in Indiana, which earned honorable mention for creative detailing. DURANAR coatings were applied to a 0.5-in. plate screen wall and custom-cut light screen, as well as the building’s custom sunshades, screen wall support framing, and entrance canopy.
