Watry increases powder coating capacity

Watry Industries LLC, a permanent mold aluminum foundry in Sheboygan, Wis., has increased line capacity, allowing it to take on additional powder coating business. The company offers its powder coating capabilities on a contract basis to other foundries, metal stampers, and metal fabricators for cast parts, stampings, extrusions, weldments, and assemblies made of steel, iron, and various alloys.

With an overhead, conveyorized powder coating operation beginning with a seven-stage wash system, the company can process parts up to 36 by 54 by 54 in. with weights up to 100 lbs. or more. The all-stainless steel washer includes a deionized water rinse and deionized water halo in the final stages to achieve the highest level of cleanliness.

The company can mask features before painting and blow off uncured powder in areas where masking is not practical. The Nordson Cyclo-Kinetic reclaim booth, using both manual and automatic guns, can apply high-temperature powders to the most difficult areas on a workpiece.

A roof-mounted cure oven, encompassing more than 250 ft. of conveyor track and operating at temperatures up to 500 degrees F, can cure powder on large, heavy parts at high line speeds. Quality control systems and procedures include film thickness checks, adhesion testing, color verification, and paint hardness testing.
