Huntingdon Fusion Techniques offers free GTAW course

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques (HFT) is offering a free, three-month training course via e-mail and Web broadcast for welding engineers and those involved in GTAW.

Designed for beginners and welders with little recent experience, the course's topics include electrode choice, preparation, getting the arc gap right, welding calculation, and weld purging techniques. The flexible course requires two to three hours a week to complete over three months.

Participants receive e-mails each week and sign in for a number of Web broadcasts that can be downloaded at leisure. At the end of the course, participants who have completed the competency assessments satisfactorily receive a certificate of achievement.

HFT stresses that the course is no substitute for skills-based welding training. It is designed to add to expertise and provide background knowledge to those engaged in welding or those interested in the processes.
