Beckwood to supply deep-draw sheet hydroforming press to LLNL
Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, will manufacture a Triform 20-10-10BD deep-draw sheet hydroforming press for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Livermore, Calif., an R&D institution for science and technology applied to national security.
The press will accommodate a 20-in. maximum blank size, deliver 10,000 PSI of forming pressure, and offer a maximum draw depth capacity of 10 in. The press currently is scheduled for installation in spring 2016.
The user can control both punch position and diaphragm pressure for up to 30 individual recipe steps per cycle, which then can be saved alphanumerically and recalled in the future. An In-Sight Feature allows the operator to pause and open the press at any point during the forming cycle for visual inspection.
