Joining Technologies appoints materials engineering manager

Joining Technologies Inc., East Granby, Conn., has announced the promotion of Salay Stannard to materials engineering manager. In her new role, Stannard is involved in setting strategic goals for technical sales and marketing and is responsible for implementing creative research strategies for electron beam welding, laser welding, and additive manufacturing.
Stannard has a bachelor's degree in material science and engineering from the University of Connecticut and currently is pursuing a master's degree in material science and engineering with a focus on laser welding materials and process interactions. She has been a process development engineer at the company since 2009 with concentration on laser welding of medical, aerospace, and defense components.
She previously worked on laser applications at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, where she provided analysis and material characterization on laser drilling with gated high-power fiber lasers.
Joining Technologies is a developer of precision fusion processes, including laser and electron beam welding, laser additive manufacturing, and weld system design and integration.
