Kent Corp. installs coil end welding machine for European oil and gas company

Kent Corp., North Royalton, Ohio, has installed a 45-degree bias coil end welding machine for a multinational oil and gas company. This new machine allows for the strip end shearing, shear end alignment, and welding of flat strip coil ends on a 45-degree cutting angle.

Because of the extreme cutting angle necessary in many energy tubing applications, the machine is designed to compensate for natural strip camber and material deviation and eliminate variability in the strip fit-up zone.

Features include cut-zone edge guiding, reduced distortion shearing, PLC variable clamp pressure, and automatic weld clamping extraction for fit-up inspection. Automation controls record all key metrics of the process, including torch speed, gas flow, and amperage.
