Mazak Optonics names new president

May 1, 2007

Mazak Optonics Corp. (MOC), Schaumburg, Ill., has named William "Bill" Citron its new president. Citron succeeds Tim Yanagisawa, who was named director and general manager of sales for Yamazaki Mazak Optonics Corp. in Japan. The moves are effective May 1.

Citron has been executive vice president of Mazak Optonics since December 2005. Before joining the company, he was Northeast regional general manager for Mazak Corp. for five years.

Other promotions within the Mazak Optonics organization include:

  • Robert St. Aubin to vice president of sales.
  • Henry Yahata to vice president of accounting and finance.
  • Simon Kato to corporate vice president of administration and communications.
  • Kyle Uehara to support staff manager of engineering.
  • Tak Hirashima to support staff manager of service.

These organizational changes are in addition to moves made in the six months since the company announced its New Beginning process, which was designed to improve customer service while increasing accountability, product offerings, service and application support, and personnel.

The moves included hiring industrial service veteran Carl Schuett as general manager of the service and parts department, Lou Derango as 2D product manager, and Mark Mercurio to oversee the new application support department. The company also is in the process of adding two new, additional service centers—one in Atlanta and another in Cambridge, Ontario—and increasing the staff of trained service professionals from 38 to 50.
