GSI Lumonics expands product line

GSI Lumonics Inc., a supplier of motion control components, lasers, and laser-based manufacturing systems, has expanded its product lines, which now include diode-pumped solid-state technologies (DPSS) and additional lamp-pumped (LPSS), excimer, scientific, and CO2-based lasers. The expanded product line enlarges the company's offerings in the 7- to 100-W range, with a focus on material processing applications.

With the acquisition of U.K.-based Spectron® Laser Systems from the Israeli firm Lumenis, the company's lasers now range from UV to infrared, including Q-switched and free-running lasers, in both pulsed and continuous-wave mode. Spectron operations were integrated into GSI's 100,000-sq.-ft. Rugby, England, plant, and gas laser products were brought into the plant from GSI's former manufacturing site in Kanata, Ont.
