Kammetal fabricates One World Trade Center spire with TRUMPF laser

On May 10, 2013, the spire for One World Trade Center was permanently installed in New York City. The 40-ft. top of the spire was fabricated by Kammetal- Kusack Architectural Metal Inc., an architectural and ornamental metal fabricator based in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The spire's glass and stainless steel structure, which features a rotating beacon to illuminate the Manhattan skyline at night, was laser-cut on a TRUMPF® TruLaser 1030 2-D laser cutting system.

At 1,776 ft., the building's height pays tribute to the year the U.S. declared its independence and makes it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
