Penn United adds laser cutting capabilities

Cabot, Pa.-based Penn United has added an Amada FLCAJ 3015 fiber laser to its capabilities.

The laser system has a 2,000-W fiber engine, the capacity to hold 60-in. by 120-in. sheets, and cuts up to four times faster than conventional CO2 lasers, the company states. The system also features an automated sheet loader.

The fiber laser enables the company to run small-volume lots that can be utilized by its prototype department. Volume production parts also can be run without additional tooling or capital investment.
