- Laser Cutting
Prima Power Laserdyne, Champlin, Minn., has appointed Allan Callander to the position of market sales manager. The appointment is part of the company's expansion of its laser systems business to include industries such as medical devices, electronics, and precision mechanical components.
Callander's near-term focus will be on growing sales of the Laserdyne 430, a multiaxis system designed for precision cutting, welding, and drilling of 2-D and 3-D components, such as orthopedic implants; surgical instruments; and small, precise electromechanical devices. It reaches speeds up to 800 IPM in the X, Y, and Z axes and has a bidirectional accuracy of 0.0005 in.
Callander has held management positions with Winland Electronics, LPL Systems Inc., HEI Inc., and GSI. In each case, he launched and managed the development of new products while multiplying sales of established products to medical device and electronic manufacturers. Callander holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor's degree in materials engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
